U-21 carnival

Great achievement for the u-21 carnival teams.. both the plate team and the cup team .. both qualified for semifinals which will be played on Sunday. U-18 carnival is tmr.. in the morning and afternoon.. all the semifinals and finals will be played after the qualifying rounds for the u-18 cup and plate. let's hope for good news tmr.

since Loi has put up the results for various tournaments in great detail, i shan't repeat what has been covered. It has been a good tournament year, a Great one in fact as it's the second time we won a Championship at club level.. the first championship was Div 2 League in 2005.. and in 2006 we are U-18 champion! We took part in Penang Sixes which was held over a weekend in Dec. As Nordin mentioned, it is considered a big step for us.. the first time we compete in a tournament overseas as a club ! The Crescent carnival is a success and we saw a jump in the no. of participating teams. There were 25 teams that took part in the carnival. We hope to further increase the no. of teams to 30 - 35 for 2007. These are our goals for the next 5 years Within the next 5 years, we should.. 1) win u-21 tournament 2) ranked top 4 in Premier League 3) have more players in the National team Things to look forward to in 2007: Melbourne trip King's Cup in Thailand or ISCI in Indonesia. Let's have a good start this tournament year. I know we are missing quite a handful of key players who have to play for their JC in the age group tournament, nevertheless, let's play hard and do our best. In order to be able to do your utmost best, and do justice to the team, players need to come down for trg ok... we have trg at NTU pitch 7-10 pm tuesdays and thursdays. please try your best to come down. 1st time we won Victoria Country!

yesterday's win marks a milestone for our club, our team.. the Victoria Country College have been coming down to Singapore for training tour fro 6 years now... and we have played against them 3 times i believe.. they're great opponent. Fast, fit aggressive.. the kind that makes your head swirl cos their game play is so fast.. we plyed them twice... on monday, and yesterday.. on monday we lost 4-0. they were good.. but i felt that we played well too but the scoreline wasn't representative of how we played.. so on tuesday.. we played them again.. and more senior players turned up.. and we got a goal first.. through Farah Noh.. it was a fantastic reverse hit to the top left hand corner.. well beyond the reach of the goalkeeper. and it was definitely a reason to celebrate. the australians had a few hard stopping chances too.. but they were not able to convert.. and later on in the 2nd half.. Shanna deflected the ball to sound the board. that was all it took to see us winning 2-0 .. winning for the first time.. the australians claimed that in all the games they played in their training trip, they've never lost to anyone.. isn't it great..? well.. i was really happy.. so ecstatic!! and another great news.. we're going to Australia next June.. lots of fund raising to do.. but hope this happpens..

under 15 tournament 2006

Under 15 tournament has just come to a close. Crescent was fortunate to be able to send 2 teams: Crescent A - the sec 3s and Crescent B - the C division. I was in charge of Crescent B.. helping out sort of.. the girls really impressed us. it was a really unexpected surprise when the C girls qualified to play the semis.. in the qualifying rounds.. they played well against the other teams ; CSC, STC and even SRC.. the semi-finals saw the two Crescent teams playing against each other. even though the B team did not have their main players, and no reserves at all, they played well against their seniors.. there were ample attack from the juniors and they were impressive in fending off their much stronger and experienced seniors. the seniors held on to their pride when they scored a goal in the second half. the juniors showed a lot of potential. i think this tournament has achieved its purpose in preparing them for the coming 'C' division. oh!! one point worth mentioning.. Huijun was spectacular; saving numerous shots from the seniors. Sadly, we missed the under-15 title due to absence of main players. we lost 1-0. a goal not worth remembering. Great Work Girls!!

how much do you love the game? enough to put down your life for it? the untimely death of a hockey umpire, Morgan is one of God's reminder that life is too short, too precious, too unpredcitable. My condolences to his loved ones whom he left behind. He was one of the better umpires, a great role model to youths as a veteran, a family man. I've seen him around since i was 14 and starting out hockey. The few exchanges I had with him and his wife were enough to provide me with good lasting impression. With such bad reputation earned by older hockey players, he was one of the very few of his era who has a clean record. He's truly one the very few role models left to emulate. He has my respects. May God bless his soul.

Very good response for t shirts sales

GOood News!!! the response for our fund raising t shirt sales has been really really good.. in fact its above expectations... this is all thanks to the sec ones and sec 2s for helping to sell in quite large numbers.. we will be ordering another 300 pieces since the sec 4s, the JC students and most of the seniors have not collected any t shirts to sell.. i think we should be able to sell off the other 300 pieces.. once we have covered the cost price.. the rest of the t unsold t shirts can still be kept for year round sale.. so anyone who wants the t shirt at a later time can get it.. but of course the ideal would be to sell off everything during this period. Cheers for now.. those who have the t shirts happy selling...!!! those who have not received the t shirts to sell ... quik~~ think of people you can sell to... the new batch will come in 2 weeks!

okay i have another point to bring up about the tshirt- so i was being a sales gerger and promoting the tshirt, one of my huggle (non-hockey folks) friend brought up a good point. she suggested to include our club name on the tshirt. well, personally, i think, to a certain extend, it'll be more significant for people who buy our tshirt. and isnt it smth to be proud of for us as well? what do you people think??

but as i was told by siew leng yesterday, the tshirts have already been printed out and on their way to be delivered to nordin's. so we can consider that for our next design alright! and i already have a few customers. am i a good sales gerger or what! hahhahaha

hey Crescent players... the Div One season has come to an end. as i mentioned in my previous post.. the season is indeed a very short one for us.. however don't fret.. actually we had a good tournament although we did not qualify for top 4 placing to move on to play the semi finals. this is our FIRST time playing in Div One.. so i think it is really a good exposure for all of us.. i think some of us at least if not all.. have gained some valuable lessons from the experience. i have also learnt some veluable lessons as an official through thsi ground testing. be assured that we will only improve from here and not stagnate or detriorate. players' concern about the lack of preparation is being considered at the official level.. we are thinking through the preparation plans for next year's league in terms of funding, pitches, jerseys, training tours etc. i do hope you can be patient with us as we are trying our best to tackle certain pressing issues. lastly, on behalf of the club i hope you gals and guys.. will continue to support the club and contribute in any way you can. till we meet again... have a wonderful off-season rely

hey people.. season this time round seems so short.. i guess partly becos we didn't have proper pre-season prep.. so that's why it seems like div one comes and is going just like that. i wasn't able to deliver a decent performance so far this season.. i am sorry for disappointing the team and all.. i can tell that our team has far reaching potential.. i cannot stress this enough. i hope everyone is aware of this.. let's all contribute to achieving our goals in one way or another. right now we need everyone to strengthen the team.. even if you feel like you don't feel like playing anymore.. or don't wish to play anymore (sometimes i myself have these thoughts).. we need to just stay on for the others who need us.. ps.. those who have the moral t shirt.. haha... wanna wear this coming game against theresian???? hee hee.... *evil laugh

CHC fund-raising tees [Followup]

Farah, many thks for your enthusiasm and interest in the tee, as well as to the rest of you... way to go!! =) Juz to add more info on our fund-raising tee... 1) YES, we're selling the tees, and should be retailing them at S$15 each, irregardless of size (juz in case we have some ninnyheads who might ask DOH qns as such =P) 2) Similar to what we're done two years ago, we've ordered two kinds of t-shirts - Regular Tees and Mini Tees. Measurements are as follows: 3) I'll be receiving a sample of the printed tee by early next week, and upon approval, the supplier will start printing our order of 300 shirts. Within two to three weeks from the approval date, the shirts will be delivered to Nordin's residence. 4) Gd idea to pitch tee sales to all friends around you - starting now in fact! The design/message of the tee is pretty generic, which means it would also cater to your non-hockey friends. 5) Also think it'd be great if you wanna do a pre-order with your contacts. At the moment, I'm unsure of who will be in-charge of the tee order. Will check with Nordin and revert to all. Alrighty, that's all the info at the moment. Will update you gals if I have more. Meanwhile, lemme know if you have more tee qns, ya =)

.hey mister..please minster dj tell me if you hear me turn the music up. haiiii. police game was....TIRING!! cos my ass is biggg. hahah. and sun was hot lahh. BUT i most certainly enjoyed playing (YAYYY!) esp with you all. evolution pls. so ppl get psyched up okay. i want to play somemore!!!! and i think we need more talkin on the pitch. at some point of time during the game i thought i was playing with the deaf society or smth. so pls open your mouth and talk. dont be humji. old or young, just open mouth. hey people ... faizal bought a mascot for crescent hockey club.. pic above... we need to decide if the mascot's gonna be a male or female.. and what's the name gonna be.. any suggestions? do post as comments.. man of the match will bring the mascot home for the week or longer depends if we have game the next week... man of match will bring mascot for next game to be passed to new man of he match.. the game we played against scc was a really good game... we have potential to be better .. i think when each one of us reach our form.. when we're top form i believe we'll be a force to reckon with.. we will be formidable.. but of course realistically.. this doesn't happen over night.. we must keep working hard..te fruits of our labour may not materialize this year or next.. but the day will come.. sooner or later.. i believe it will.. we have one of the best youth development programme.. looking at our current juniors who are fast scaling the mountain.. they will be with us soon.. they will be the new blood that push us further in our pursuit of the premier league.. btu from now till then.. what we need is hard work.. and loads and loads of it.. the time will come for us.. it's not now.. but its gonna be soon..we need to prepare ourselves for the challenge in unity for the love of the club.. for the love of the game.. crescent forever..

golf fund raising event + +

since you guys know hockey is not a merit sport now and becos of this, there's substantial budget cut. shf is trying to figure out ways to manage their cash flow problem as well as to raise funds to supplement the budget. so.. they have come up with a golf fund raising events where they will invite golfers to play at $300 a player.. they are urging contributions from affiliates in getting sponsors as well as companies which are willing to pay for their advertisment to be published in magazines that will be disseminated for that event. since it's unlikely that our club can send golfers or raise money to put up advertisements.. i have told the oragnising committee that we'll contribute through our labour.. i will try to ask some of our younger girls to ask their parents who play golf whetherthey want to partcipate in the golf tournament. and also those whose parents have companies and are willing to pay for the advertising with the magazine. apart from this, there's another thing that i want to tell you guys.. it hasn't been confirmed we need to be prepared in case in the next financial year (which is april 2005-march 2006) we might not be getting any funds from shf at all.. this is because sports council MAY NOT give development grants to shf (which shf uses to distribute to clubs with development squads). yah.. in this case, we need to start thinking of ways to raise enough funds to see us through the league, under 18 and other tournaments taht we might be interested in playing. we need to target raising about $3000 this year. this amount is bearly enough actually. ok... i hope the website thing is materialising.. those people who are not schooling.. not working (ahem! you know who u are) please get started on the website.. if everyone is agreeable, i might be able to get our website linked to SHF so that whoever surfs on singaporehockey.com might have access to crescent club website via lthe links.. and with regards to website.. the exco is looking for volunteers who might be interested in writing articles about hockey to be put up in singapore hockey website. it's not a regular thing... u can submit articles for review as n when u want.. n you can write on anything pertaining to hockey.. however.. you might want to also write about let's say summary or highlights of u-18 tournament or any other tournaments organised by shf.. n if the articles are well-written, shf might have it sent to the press... so any budding journalists out there? farah azman? or any takers? okie dokes.. i know everytime i write always long winded.. that's what you get lah for inviting me in this blog stuff.. ok.. see ya on sunday!!! saturday crescent b play against src... better come n support k.. or else fan lian !! ever wondered how the term 'friendship' has been misused over the years? are u one of the many culprits that cheapen the term or could you be one of the victims that fall prey to the hipocritical notion of 'friendship'? what is the meaning of friendship as we have understood it? how and why has the practice of friendship deviate from the ideally sacred notion of trust between two persons? have you wondered if your 'friend' has indeed fulfilled his or her bound duties to you in the name of friendship? how about you? what have you done for him or her to lay claim that you indeed deserve to be a friend? to me friends should never ever speak ill of each other, trust and loyalty is the most sacred notions to be protected. manifestations of trust and loyalty in this day and age have not only been misplaced but misused. have we become so liberal that we are able to develop friendship without even considering the notion of trust and loyalty? and that friendship today is solely based on the notion of companionship to go through the ever challenging world of manipulation? my question to you... what is your definition of a friend? has any of your friends truthfully fulfilled your expectations without reservation?

haha. we like talkin to each other on blog ah loi. anyway ur idea is great. maybe can have those subtitles. like: *chc-how it started. *updates *teams *tournaments/events *coaches and managers(like pple involved. those top ones.rilai n nordin etc.those kind) *pictures *what our girls feel(smth like tt lah. tis part can hav quotes from our crescent clubbers. like how thy feel towards the club n why thy love it. yada yada) *links *FAQs/enquiries/contact. yeah i tink the above is sufficient. then we can divide the work already. each do one or 2 sections. can ask others to help too. farah say she will help wid the html. mayb i can help wid the pictures since i got lotsa pics from last time till now. can categorise them. then mayb zhen can do teams n tournament n events. she can get info on that. juz the names n stuff. diff age grp teams. yada yada. then the links n enquires quite easy lah. we ask someone to gather the background of chc n how it started. then can write tt n put on the website. yeah. can lahh. so exciting. haha.

aightt su okay. will see if i can come up with a nice format for everything and then i'll post it up here for you to see. my html is also quite sucky so.. yeah will need alot of help. if its formal i'll most likely style the site against the singaporehockey.com site.. (but not the same la :) ) also.. we need to put in what stuff? -history -updates -pictures -links -FAQ (?) -maybe also a page where we can collect stuff from the other girls on why they love the club so much blah blah etc etc (?) btw how do you want to split the work? i can do backgrounds/graphics and simple flash or .gif files. my html isnt great so i cant really churn out stuff BUT i was just thinking of taking a free template online and editing it--cos thats the most i can do. yikes so much blogging heh :) k tell me soon. and that weizhen and farah and everyone else who wants to do this too! lets do this together.. and do it great :D oh yeah and call everyone else in.. you all know how to invite people right.. i'll leave it to you all. back to work. more people have joined whee :) anyway about the chc website-- is it going to be formal or fun? this is really impt to start off with, so other than that i've already signed up with www.topcities.com for the website of http://crezhockey.topcities.com -- that url can ALSO be changed again with the use of mirror sites but that can come in later. went through loads of websites and found topcities to be the best because it has 150mb webspace. if there are better free ones feel free to change it k. unless, of course, we are willing to pay.. www.crescenthockey.com is available by the way. 25 bux a year or a month im not too sure. also, i've only invited the 1986 batch to be members of this blog. are we inviting more in? k that's about it blog more k peeps :) see you guys around!
